About Piano Lessons

Welcome! I’m so thrilled you’re interested in piano lessons.

My mission as an educator is to inspire and foster a love of music and the piano.  With this in mind, I work to make sure that the mode of learning is designed around each student’s individual needs.  I teach using a combination of learning to read music, ear-training (learning by ear), and understanding how music works. My background is in classical music, but I encourage writing music and playing in different styles and I will happily explore whatever interests you!

My studio is a safe and welcoming place for everyone.

FAQs

Do I need to have a piano at home to take lessons?

Yes. You don’t need to have a fancy grand piano, but you do need to have something. The only way to make progress at the piano is by being able to practice what we’ve worked on at home. That said, there are lots of options that range in price and I’ve helped many of my students find an instrument. We’ll figure something out for you!

Do you take adult students?

Yes! It’s never too late to start piano lessons, or pick up again.

Do you teach all levels?

Yes! I’ve taught conservatory-level and professional musicians, students of all ages with no background in music, and everyone in between. I bring years of professional experience to my students and can also help with career coaching and college audition prep.

Do you host student concerts?

Yes, I host two student concerts a year - one in the fall and one in the spring. If a student is interested in performing more, we can always explore more opportunities.

How long are lessons, and how often are they scheduled?

I offer 30, 45, and 60 minute lessons scheduled weekly. Younger students will start with 30 minute lessons. I encourage teenagers and adults to take either 45 or 60 minute lessons.

What if I’m not sure I’ll be able to afford weekly lessons?

Please do still get in touch and we’ll discuss how we can make lessons happen for you.

Where is your studio?

I teach out of my home studio, which is located in South Troy.

Do you do anything else besides teaching?

Yes, I do! I perform and organize all sorts of musical projects. You can learn more here.
